Dundalk Young Irelands GFC will hold their first committee meeting of 2008 in the Clubrooms at 8pm on Monday 7th January. All officers and committee members are asked to be in attendance.

Manager Pat Conlon was returned for a third term after leading the club to Junior Championship success in 2007 while loyal clubman Michael McArdle was enrolled to the rank of Honorary President. Outgoing Chairman, Gerry Nixon welcomed the large attendance. He paid special tribute to Club PresidentFr. John Mulligan SM who was unable to attend on the night and he asked all present to keep Fr. John in their thoughts and prayers. He extended sympathy to members who suffered bereavements during 2007 and led a prayer for all deceased members. In his address, the Chairman stated that the club had a great year winning the Junior Championship and it felt that the club can also be very proud to have reached a Minor Final. He congratulated team managers Patrick Conlon and Adrian O'Donoghue and the minor selectors. He also congratulated all the other juvenile teams who did so well during the year and thanked all the selectors, club workers and club members for their support in his term as Chairman. Gerry expressed the wish that 2007 was the start of a bright future with more young players coming through from the juvenile ranks along with the tremendous work that is taking place with Óg Sport activities. In his address, outgoing Secretary Tony Hande thanked all who helped the club in any way in 2007. He congratulated the Junior team on their Christy Bellew Cup win and encouraged all to make a big effort as the club moves forward to Intermediate with a certain degree of optimism. Tony congratulated all the club members who are involved with Louth underage teams and also thanked the clubs sponsors, particularly Brubakers and Sony Playstation. In the elections that followed, John Laverty was elected Chairman. In his address John stated that he was honoured to be elected Chairman. He thanked outgoing Chairman Gerry Nixon and expressed the wish that the club will steadily move forward over the next few years. Secretary Tony Hande was returned for a sixth term.
