Dundalk Young Irelands held their inaugural Golf Classic in Greenore Golf Club on Friday 29th August. A total of 43 teams teed off in good weather conditions. Organiser Barry McDermott was pleased with the turnout and he paid tribute to the staff of Greenore and the various club members who helped to make the day a great success. A group of seasoned golfers led by Colm Coburn posted an early 96 that held the lead for most of the day. It was late in the evening before the last teams came in with Pat Durnin’s team returning with 97.

After the golf all adjourned to the clubhouse for food, prize giving and a nights craic with music provided by Cracker. The winners on the day were:1st score 97: Pat Durnin, Willie McLoughlin, Adrian O’Donoghue, Derek Murphy. 2nd score 96: Colm Coburn, Darren Murphy, Andrew Coburn, Dessie Corbett.3rd: Barry Cunningham, Brendan Cunningham, Pat McArdle, Stephen Cunningham.4th: Donal McArdle, Anne McArdle, Noel McGuinness, Elizabeth McGuinness.Nearest Pin: Anthony McGorrianLongest Drive: John LynchCeili’s Spot Prize raffle:1.
